Caritas Japan is a committee of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan which cooperates with the activities of the worldwide Catholic Church in the field of relief,
welfare and development.
■Establishment
Soon after World War Ⅱ, our Catholic Church began Food Delivery Service.
That was the beginning of our activity, and in 1970, Caritas Japan joined Caritas Internationalis.

■Vision and Values
Caritas Japan provides development and social services as well as humanitarian support inside and outside the country to promote human development programmes.
It also supports domestic social work.

Caritas Japan works not only for emergency relief but also for the elimination of poverty by supporting education, health and human development programmes based on respect for human dignity and human rights. To create a society that respects human dignity, we promote solidarity and cooperation with the oppressed to support self-help efforts in order to realize a self-reliant society sharing goals with one another as partners. Caritas Japan supports people regardless of race, gender, religion or politics. We respect the traditional and cultural values of local partners who are actively involved in the decision-making process of the projects.
